M. A. Mannan M.Pis a politician and has held the position of Minister of Planning in Bangladesh since 2019. With a background as a former diplomat and bureaucrat for the Government of Bangladesh, Mr. Mannan embarked on his political journey by joining the Bangladesh Awami League in 2005. He was elected as a Member of Parliament on the Bangladesh Awami League ticket in 2008.During his tenure in the 9th parliament, he served as the Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee of Public Accounts and was a member of various other parliamentary committees. Mr. Mannan is deeply committed to development literature and dedicates his time to improving the welfare of rural communities in Bangladesh.

His career has been marked by diverse experiences, including serving as Deputy Commissioner of Kishorgonj, Mymensing, and Chittagong. He also held the position of Economic Minister at the Bangladesh Permanent Mission in Geneva. Mr. Mannan retired from government service in 2003 after serving as the Chairman of the Bangladesh Small & Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).
