Bay of Bengal Conversation, Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) flagship conference on governance, security & development will be the first of its kind to bring together stakeholders from multiple communities for sustained dialogue on issues that face the region and create pathways through which regional identity and co-operation could take shape. CGS has established this Code of Conduct to provide guidelines to Participants and to ensure that all Participants understand what behavior is expected, and what behavior will not be tolerated at Bay of Bengal Conversation. CGS expects all Participants to abide by this Code of Conduct at the conference. This includes conference-related social events and online social media engagement.
CGS is dedicated to providing a harassment-free and inclusive event experience for everyone regardless of gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disabilities, neurodiversity, physical appearance, body size, ethnicity, nationality, race, age, religion, or other protected category. We value the participation of each attendee and want them to have an enjoyable and fulfilling experience. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
We expect that Participants will:
Be considerate and respectful to all community members. Refrain from demeaning, discriminatory, or harassing behavior, materials, and speech. Speak up if they observe anything at the Conference that conflicts with this Code of Conduct. If you are being harassed or feel uncomfortable, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the conference organizers immediately. Avoid Profanity or slurs and Be respectful, understanding, and mindful of fellow participants. If you choose to attend a panel discussion, we request you to stay seated for the entire duration of the event.
Conference Participation and Dress Code
All participants must carry a valid confirmation entry pass to attend the events. Formal attire (Business Formal or Official Uniform) will be the dress code for every participant to attend the conference.
Laws and Prohibition
The participants are requested to abide by the laws and regulations of the country. Any kinds of illegal substances (Drugs, Alcohol, etc.) are strictly prohibited in the unauthorized area and requested to consume alcohol in moderations only in the authorized area. We expect all participants to share the same responsibilities for the conference. We strictly restrict access to any events with weapons and prohibit any kind of organized demonstration and disruptions.
UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Unacceptable behavior from any community member will not be tolerated. Unacceptable behavior includes, but is not limited to:
Intimidating, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, derogatory, or demeaning speech, materials, or conduct by any Participants of the conference.
Violence, threats of violence, or violent language directed against another person.
Sexist, racist, homophobic, transphobic, or otherwise discriminatory jokes and language.
Personal insults, particularly those related to gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, or disability.
Inappropriate photography or recording.
Taking photos within the conference environment for use on social media, without the prior permission of the individuals or owners of the content therein.
Any boisterous, lewd, or offensive behavior or language, including but not limited to using sexually explicit or offensive language, materials or conduct, or any language, behavior, or content that contains profanity, obscene gestures, or racial, religious, or ethnic slurs.
Failure to obey any rules or regulations of the event venue.
CONSEQUENCES OF UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
Unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated. Anyone asked to stop unacceptable behavior is expected to comply immediately. If a Participant engages in unacceptable behavior, Conference organizers may take any action it deems appropriate, including warning or expelling the offender from the Conference. For more egregious behavior, conference organizers may, in its reasonable discretion, temporarily ban or permanently expel a Participant from the conference.
WHAT TO DO IF YOU WITNESS OR ARE SUBJECTED TO UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR
If you are subjected to unacceptable behavior, notice that someone else is being subjected to unacceptable behavior, or have any other concerns, please notify Conference organizers as soon as possible. Conference organizers will be available to assist those experiencing unacceptable behavior to feel safe for the duration of the conference. If an emergency arises, please first contact the Dhaka Police immediately by dialing 999 (Emergency Toll-Free Number) and proceed to notify a conference organizer of the issue. All reports will remain completely confidential.
