Pyrou directs the East West Management Institute’s programs on human rights and environmental justice in Southeast Asia under the Open Development Initiative. Pyrou has over 20 years of experience in the development sector across Asia, Africa and Australia. This work has intersected with the open data movement to utilize data and information in an open data platform, recently, registered in Thailand as the Knowledge for Development Foundation (K4D). The program seeks to uphold values to promote evidence‐based decision making, digital gender inclusion and indigenous data sovereignty. As an ecologist and sustainable development expert, her work has been focused on the nexus between environmental governance, conservation and human rights, with an emphasis on how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are contributing towards greater human rights and environmental justice.
