MAHBUBUR RAHMAN
Dr. Mahbubur Rahman is a Professor of Political Science and former Chair of the Department of Political Science and Sociology at North South University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Previously, he taught at York College of the City University of New York (CUNY), Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) and Jahangirnagar University (JU), Savar, Dhaka. He specializes in comparative politics and has special interest in election studies, refugee studies, religion and politics, and preventing/countering violent extremism (P/CVE). Prof. Mahbub has contributed chapter on “Electoral Governance” to the Global Encyclopedia of Public Administration, Public Policy, and Governance (Springer, 2018). He has also coauthored two books—Democracy and Development: Contemporary Issues in Bangladesh and Towards National Consensus in Bangladesh, and published several book chapters and over a dozen articles in peer reviewed journals. Among his latest publications is “Developing Counter-Narrative for De-radicalization in Bangladesh: Issues and Challenges,” in Radicalization in South Asia: Context, Trajectories, and Implications, eds. Hasan, Isezaki and Yasir. (SAGE, 2019). Professor Mahbub earned his doctorate in political science from Clark Atlanta University, USA and received a number of scholarships/fellowships including Fulbright Scholarship.
