Acting High Commissioner, Australian High Commission in Bangladesh

Nardia Simpson commenced as Acting High Commissioner at the Australian High Commission in Bangladesh in January 2024. This appointment followed three years service as Deputy Head of Mission in Bangladesh.

Prior to serving in Bangladesh, Ms Simpson held the position of Acting Assistant Secretary Climate Change Branch, Economic Growth and Sustainability Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Previous appointments include Counsellor (Economic) at the Australian Embassy in the Philippines and Director Sanctions, Sanctions and Transnational Crime Branch, Legal Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Ms Simpson holds a Bachelor of Arts (Politics and International Relations)/Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales and a Master of Philosophy (Development Studies) from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS), University of Sussex.
