Political Counsellor, Canadian High Commission to Bangladesh

Marcus Davies is the Political Counsellor to the Canadian High Commission to Bangladesh.  He was posted to Canadian High Commission to Cameroon as the Political Program Manager (2021-2024) and to Canadian High Commission to Kenya as the Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN and as the First Secretary to Somalia (2018-2021).  Previously, he worked in Ottawa for Global Affairs Canada in the Office of the Legal Advisor in both the Oceans and Environmental Law Division and the Criminal, Security and Diplomatic Law Division (2008-2018).  Prior to joining Global Affairs Canada in 2008, Marcus worked for the Department of Justice in Ottawa as a legal advisor and litigator (2001-2008).  He took a leave from Justice to work as a legal advisor to the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) in 2007.  He is fluent in English and French with law degrees in Common and Civil law as well a Masters in Humanitarian and Security Law and Masters in International Affairs.
