Suvojit Bagchi has been a professional Indian journalist since 1995. Formerly he worked as a Correspondent with the BBC World Service in Delhi (2003-12), Indian newspaper The Hindu as a Senior Assistant Editor (2012-14) in central India and as the Bureau Chief & Deputy Editor in Kolkata (2014-2020). Earlier he worked with Kolkata-based Bengali language daily Ananda Bazar Patrika (1995-2000) and a television news production company (2000-2003). Presently, Suvojit covers India and parts of South Asia for Prothom Alo and writes for a range of Indian & international media outlets. Suvojit specialises in Indian politics, internal conflicts and regional geo-politics. He has contributed to a South Asian anthology on Indian Maoist movement by Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore (2012) and is working on a book on Primary Education in China.
