Shanthie Mariet D'Souza

Dr. Shanthie Mariet D'Souza is Founder & President of Mantraya; Teacher in Defence and Strategic Studies; Member of Research & Advisory Committee, Naval War College, Goa; Board Director at Regional Centre for Strategic Studies, Colombo; Research Fellow at WeltTrends-Institutfürinternationale Politik, Potsdam, Germany; Editorial board member of Small Wars & Insurgencies; Expert and Contributor to MAP at MEI, Washington D.C.; Adviser for ICRA, London. She has conducted field research in Afghanistan, Pakistan, China, Africa, Australia, Canada, United States, Jammu and Kashmir and India's North East. As Adviser, IDLG, Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan; International Election Observer for Afghanistan's Presidential Runoff elections 2014; Senior Transition Consultant, UNMAS and External Reviewer for Action Aid International, Afghanistan, she has worked for more than a decade in Afghanistan.

Dr D'Souza has been a Visiting Research Associate at the School of Business & Governance, Murdoch University, Perth, Australia; Research Fellow at the ISAS , National University of Singapore; Associate Fellow, IDSA; Fulbright Fellow at SAIS, Johns Hopkins University, Washington D.C. She has edited books titled Countering Insurgencies and Violent Extremism in South and South East Asia (Routledge: UK), Afghanistan in Transition: Beyond 2014?, co-edited books, Perspectives on South Asian Security and Saving Afghanistan.
