André de Mello e Souza is a Senior Researcher at the Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), a Brazilian governmental think-tank. He earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from Stanford University, United States. He has previously worked for five years as Professor of International Relations at the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), Brazil. His main areas of research include the global governance of health, intellectual property rights and international development cooperation; as well as international private aid and south-south development cooperation, with a country focus on the BRICS. He is one of the authors of 'The Politics of Private Aid', published in International Organization, and several articles and book contributions on these topics.
