Asif Ibrahim

Asif Ibrahim was born in Dhaka, Bangladesh in the year 1965. He received his formal education from the University of Delhi (India) and the University of North Texas (USA). Mr. Ibrahim is the Vice Chairman of Newage Group of Industries, a business house involved mainly in manufacturing and exporting ready-made garments, textiles and plastic products.

Asif Ibrahim is the former President (2011-2012) of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), the largest SME business chamber of Bangladesh. He is the Advisor and former founder Chairman of Business Initiative Leading Development (BUILD), a Public Private Dialogue platform to expedite the policy reforms to enable private sector led economic growth of Bangladesh. Mr. Ibrahim is the Executive Director of UNESCAP Business Advisory Council (EBAC) and is also the Chairman of the UNESCAP Sustainable Business Network (ESBN) Taskforce on Disaster and Climate Risk Reduction. He is a core group member of the Citizen’s Platform for SDGs Bangladesh (CPSB) and Advisor for DCCI Committee on SDG Goals and Strategy 2030 set up to assist monitoring and implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh. Mr. Ibrahim is a member of the Board of Advisers for BRAC Business School (BBS) under BRAC University and is a board member of Bangladesh Thailand Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BTCCI).

Previously Mr. Ibrahim served as a board member of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) from 2012 to 2015 and was the Chairman of the Privatization Standing Committee of FBCCI. Mr. Ibrahim also served as a member of the Executive Committee of Bangladesh Employers’ Federation (BEF) from 2013 to 2016. He was the Director Administration of Bangladesh Philippines Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BPCCI) from 2014 to 2017. He has also previously been in the board of France Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFB) and is also the former Chairman of the Research Cell (RDTI) of Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA).
